Beech

Beech trees (Fagus sylvatica) are iconic trees of the English landscape, especially in the chalk and clay landscapes of Sussex. Where I live in West Sussex there are many old beech trees dotted around the old woods, where they form a significant natural element of the woodland blend. They catch light in a way that makes them very attractive elements of any landscape, whatever the time of year.
